Dear Friends & Members:

How many times have you heard someone say, “I can’t wait for spring to arrive!” With Lent unfolding and an early arrival of Easter this year, we’ll at least be spiritually prepared to welcome the springtime of our souls. My physical and spiritual eyes look forward to this season when resurrection bursts forth from death and new life springs out of old.

I feel we’re blessed here at Canadensis United Methodist Church to have opportunities for springtime hope and new life.

*Just take a look at Lent and Easter time worship services that bring us closer to the presence of the living Lord Jesus.

*Then there’s the fellowship that enriches and cultivates our connection to each other through Holy Thursday Simple Supper and the Lord’s Supper along with our third Sunday brunches and the gathering of women in the Friendship Circle.

*And how about special events like the Community Easter Sunrise Service; our 150th Anniversary with Rev. John O’Neill being our first “former” pastor preaching; a Hymn Singing Sunday Service.

*Reaching out is a sure sign of new life when hunting and fishing enthusiasts will gather for a Sportsman’s Dinner; when persons will be received into membership; when youth are on the journey of faith to confirmation; when plans are made for a Guatemalan Mission Trip.

All of this is God’s doing just as God raised Jesus from the dead that we may have new life in Christ.

But we can’t just keep these blessings to ourselves. Just like the women, after encountering the living Lord Jesus, the next step is to go and tell others and invite them to a springtime of the spirit. So, I encourage you to do just that this Lent and Easter Season – invite and welcome a friend, a neighbor, a family member to be with you as you spring forth into new life.
