Welcome to Camp Tygart

"A Christian Renewal Center"

Camp Tygart is a non-profit organization supported and operated by the United Methodist Church. We are located on a 50-acre tract along the Withlacoochee River in Berrien County, Georgia. The camp is nestled among oaks and pines and is a quiet retreat, a place of Christian renewal. The land was given by the late Jeff D. Tygart of Nashville as a center for Valdosta District United Methodist adults, youth and children to enjoy God’s great outdoors. Camp Tygart is also the home to the South Georgia Walk to Emmaus & Chrysalis programs. The Camp includes: the Pipkin Conference Center, six cabins that house 20 persons each, a 900-seat capacity open-air Tabernacle, a 200-seat capacity dining room, an 80-seat capacity dining room, a new swimming pool and bathhouse, two chapels, two guest houses (a 3-BR and a 2-BR), a dozen RV hookup, a huge softball/soccer field, and much more. The Pipkin Conference Center is our newest addition and has been in operation since July 2002. Seating capacity in the Pipkin Center is roughly 400 (arranged eight per round table). Camp Tygart is the site of the annual Valdosta District United Methodist camp meeting, which is scheduled for September 23 - 27, 2007. We also hold summer children and youth camps, and host a myriad of local church camps and family reunion groups.

Camp Tygart is located approximately 15 miles east of I-75 on Old Valdosta Road (which runs parallel to I-75), about half way between highway 37 (Adel exit) and highway 122 (Hahira exit). South of highway 122, Old Valdosta Road changes to Cat Creek Road and runs to Bemiss just above Valdosta. Another way to look at our location is to say we’re near the center of the triangle formed by Lakeland, Adel, and Hahira.
