Ministries
The Mission of Buckeystown United Methodist Church is to fulfill Christ's great
commission to make disciples of all peoples. Prayerfully guided by the
Holy Spirit, we exist to be an incluusive community where all can grow
spiritually in a Christ-centered environment. Through
worship, education, outreach, and personal involvement in the ministry
and mission of the church, we are committed to living in accordance with
the teachings of Christ.
Buckeystown UMC has the following ministries:
- Education Ministry -- Our children are most
precious to us. We offer Sunday School classes for pre-school age
through adults. Sunday School is held at 9:45 a.m. during the school
year which typically runs from September through May. Also included are
confirmation classes, Bible studies and small group studies. During the
summer we offer Vacation Bible School for youth ages 3 through 5th
grade and during worship services we have Children’s Church.
- Health and Welfare Ministry
- Men's Group -- Come and join the men of BUMC on the first
Saturday of the month from 8am-10am in Miller Hall. Not only do we have
a great breakfast together, but we fellowship with one another, share
joys/concerns, and have devotions. We also plan activities and look for
ways to get involved in and aid our community.
- Music Ministry -- Music Ministry We have an Adult Choir,
Youth Choir and Handbell Choir. The Handbell and Agape (adult) Choirs
practice every Thursday at 6:30 pm and 7:45 pm respectively. The Youth
Choir practices on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.
- Shady Ladies -- Join us for a monthly luncheon as we come
together and experience Christian fellowship and love, dining at
various restaurants in the area.
- United Methodist Women -- The organized unit of United
Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God
and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus
Christ. They have a creative, supportive fellowship; and participate in
the global ministries of the church focusing on the needs of women and
children.
- Youth Ministry -- The United Methodist Youth Fellowship
(UMYF) is a group for middle and high school age youth. Activities
include weekly meetings, programs in combination with the
local Urbana Cluster, Bible study, missions, social activities and lots
of fun!
- Young Adult Group --Our Young Adult group is open to anyone from 18 to 25 who
would like to develop a deeper understanding and knowledge of their relationship
with God through Jesus Christ. The group meets for fellowship through a variety of social activities.
They also conduct Bible studies and attend retreats to assist them in maturing in their faith.
