A year-long centennial celebration is a tremendous
challenge, but it’s also a tremendous tribute to people and their faith. So
many things do not last a hundred years. So many things can not stay
centered for that long. What is it that holds together through generations
an assembly of people who may otherwise be very different? For us at Bryn Mawr, the answer is pretty simple. This is a church
where volunteers come forward eagerly, where we often know what to do
before we’re asked. Our talents and our tasks fit into the whole in grace
and harmony. This is a church that belongs to its people and people who
belong to their church. We are a people who honor God and one another,
guided by Christian principles that have endured for centuries; and we
believe, through good times and bad times, that these principles will
prevail.
This is the place. You can see it as soon as you
enter, you can see the glow as light pours into the narthex, you can feel the glow as it warms you. This church, this
congregation, welcomes you instantly, and you know that this is the church
you have been looking for.
This is where faith and community commitment come together, where all ages
and all interests work in harmony to create a center for worship and
general activities. In 2009 Bryn
Mawr Church will celebrate 100 years of
active participation in worship and the world, and we look back on both a
long history and a recent history of expansion. In the last four years we
have seen phenomenal growth, doubling the size of our social hall and remodeling
and enhancing our narthex and parking area. This is a center of joyful
worship and loving interaction. This is a church that welcomes everyone,
that honors Christ’s living words telling us to bless all who enter. Here
you will find a Sunday experience that touches your entire week with
elegance and grace. It is here we have true shalom.
