To celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Harold's parents treated Harold and Pam and his sister and her family
to a one week trip to Maui.

Here are some photographs taken mostly by Pam (that's why she's not in very many pictures) during their time in Maui.

We had a lot of pictures and I can't show all of them on the web.  I don't have enough disk space.  To save time for the pictures to Load, I have also split them up into categories.  Choose the category you want to view by clicking on the thumbnail image below.

crater_th.jpg (3109 bytes) Hawaii is made up of serveral different islands in the Pacific Ocean, all of which were formed by volcanic activity.  The volcano on the island of Hawaii is still active, but most of the volcanoes on the other islands are dormat.   We took a trip to Maui's dormat volcano.  Its called Haleakala Crater.   Here's some pictures from its rim.
snorkel_th.jpg (3793 bytes) One of the more exciting things that we did while in Maui was go snorkeling.  We went to two locations.  We went with the Pacific Whale Foundation to the island of Lana'i where we not only saw some great corel reefs and tropic fish, but we also encountered approximately 150 dolphins as well.  We didn't swim with the dolphins, but I took along an underwater camera to take some pictures of the fish.
sunset_th.jpg (3060 bytes) We stayed in a really nice condominium in Kahuna.  It was called the Sands of Kahuna, and the beach and cove it faced was a pretty as a postcard.   In the morning the sea turtles would come into the cove to feed, and we could see their heads as they came up for air.  Since our balcony looked to the West, the sunsets were gorgeous.  Here are some pictures from our balcony window of the cove and its sunsets.
hana_th.jpg (2952 bytes) Hana is a small village located on the eastern tip of Maui.   We noticed that some of the T-shirts said "I survived the road to Hana," and once we drove it, we discovered what it meant.  35 miles of the road is one of the narrowist, curviest roads I have ever driven.  The payoff, however, is that it takes you through some of the most lush, beautiful rainforest Hawaii has to offer.   Here are some scenes "on the way to Hana."
family_th.jpg (3471 bytes) We went to Maui with my parents to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and boy, did we have a good time.  I must thank my mom and dad for their abundant generosity and kindness for offering Pam and me, as well as my sister and her family this wonderful opportunity.
