A Great Start

We now have a planning team being led by Ralph Denty. Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 22, with a meal and program beginning at 6 p.m. We hope all men will come join us.

Purpose

United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek daily his will.

Our primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships.

new page Church History from 1838 - 2008
Lyle Certain has compiled a 1988 - 2008 update to Gene Barber's 1838 - 1988 history. Great appreciation is expressed for the time and research which have gone into bringing the church's history to life and sharing it with us. Both of the talented writers help us feel like we are watching the events unfold. So relax and enjoy your tour of the old days through recent times.

Other Opportunies

July 25-26 and August 14 - 16

Men of the church sing August 10.
Women of the church sing August 17.
     It's that time of year again! August is the time of the year when the men and women of First United Methodist Church fill the choir loft for Sunday morning worship! Both groups should be in the choir loft by 10:30 a.m. on their Sunday mornings.
The congregation will no doubt decide which group:
1. Sings the better!
2. Looks the better!
3. Has the larger number!
4. Makes the more joyful noise!
5. Has the broader smiles!

blinking light bulb Discovering Your Special Gifts August 20th and 27th at 6:00 pm
God has given every creature He made a special area of expertise to fulfill its purpose. For instance, some animals run, others hop, some swim, others burrow, and some fly. Each has a particular role to play based on the way they were shaped by God. This is equally true of you and every other human being. You were uniquely designed, wired, and "shaped" by God to do certain things. You are not an assembly-line product, mass produced without any thought. You are a custom-designed, one-of-a-kind, original masterpiece. Are you interested in finding out your gift? Come for supper on Wednesday, August 20th, at 6:00 pm and again on Wednesday, August 27th, to find your answer. Claudia Schneider will lead us. This will be a very rewarding experience and beneficial to God's church.

Summer Supper Club June, July, August
    Last summer, we had a Summer Supper Club for 3 months to extend our Wednesday night Fellowship "habits" until September.
    Those signing up are randomly put into groups of 6 to 8 each, with one person named the host. The host decides when and where the group meets. One group may choose a covered dish supper; another may opt to meet in a local restaurant.
    The important thing is to be together in small groups for fellowship and to make new friends while continuing to enjoy the "old" friends.

Long Range Plan for our Church to be shown September 7
     Every member of Brunswick First United Methodist Church should mark his and her calendar and be here for the revealing of the Long Range Plans for the future of this great church.
     The committee has prayed much and worked hard to bring us to this point. It has developed possible ministries and services with input from church leaders. It has used the professional services of a registered surveyor to produce the needed topographical survey to determine how structures can be properly constructed to make those ministries and services work successfully. It is using the services of a professional church planner and architectural group to help plan and depict how the structures can be arranged on the property we have.
     The committee will be prepared on September 7, 2008, to make a full presentation of its long range plan in a series of phases to the church family.
     The membership will receive a complete explanation of the Committee’s plan and have many opportunities to ask questions and make suggestions.
     Watch for all coming announcements that will give the time and place! The main thing is to have everyone present! Please don’t allow anything to keep you away from this all important first look at the plan. Remember, it is a plan that can be the starting point of the most important growth period in the history of this church!

When is revival over?
Revival is never completed if we place Christ first in our lives;
if we continue to share Christ with others;
if we continue to pray for our church leaders and our church programs;
if our leaders, teachers, and workers take their responsibilities seriously as a direct commission from God;
if we preform our responsibilities seriously and faithfully;
if we approach our church work with renewed enthusiasm and commitment.
      A special thank you to Rev. Mike Ricker and all who made our revival such a wonderful time in the life of the church....The Committee on Evangelism.

With your help, we can continue to make the site an invitation for visitors and a handy reference for members. Much of the information on the site is from the newsletter and the bulletin, but emails to the site designer about events in the near and distant future are welcome.

The newsletter's editor, Lyle Certain, reminds us of the following which applies to the newsletter and the site as well. "The newsletter is for your use. The calendar is an important part of the monthly newsletter. Every attempt is made to include the most important events and meetings of the month. If we miss something, it's because we haven't been informed, and we're sad when we don't have everything mentioned. Would you help us by placing in the drop box the things you know about? We really want to know and the church family does too! Thank you!"
