Rev.  Fagg and Rev .Martin Gentry were the first pastors.  Church records were kept at the home of trustee C.M. Fagg, and were destroyed in a home fire.  About 1920 the church was moved to the current location of 104 N.  Main, About 1923 adjoining property was purchased and the congregation was merged with the older Methodist Episcopal Church, becoming the First Methodist Church of Blue Ridge.  This group experienced hard times during the Depression, but continued Sunday School, Ladies Aide and a summer revival.   In the 1940s a WMU began with 10 members.  They paid the pastoral salary, Conference Claims and utility bills with quilting, box suppers and a bazaar.  Pastoral students from SMU filled the pulpit until the 1960s when retired Rev.  Cicero B.  Fielder began a six year tenure.  A rest room, window air conditioners, front steps and a new roof were added.  The old bell was returned to service, the pews were cleaned and refinished, pew cushions and flag stands were  placed, and new speakers’ stand and communion table were put into service.  In 1977 a small Education Building was added giving access to many different activities desired by the congregation.  In 1986 by action of the General Conference, the name became First United Methodist Church of Blue Ridge. The Church was part of a two point charge with Merit, Verona, Princeton, Trenton, Leonard, Whitewright and others until 1999 when it became independent. Nearby property was purchased in the late l980s for use in Sunday School, VBS and a dining room.  A Discovery Days Pre School was founded here.  An adjoining property was purchased for a new Educational Building in the mid 1990s, the small building was removed, and the current building constructed.  A historical marker was obtained from the State of Texas by efforts of Mrs.  Carmen Durham and son Jim.  This was dedicated in July, 2000.  The first parsonage for the church was completed in June 2007, and occupied by the church’s first Full Time Pastor, Rev.  John A.  Johnson and family.  Rev. Johnson was first assigned to FUMC Blue Ridge in June of 2005 as a part-time student pastor and assumed his full time appointment July l5, 2007.
