Discovery Days Preschool is a ministry of The First United Methodist Church of Blue Ridge Texas, housed here since August of 1995 when we opened our doors with one small furnished classroom.  The dynamic growth of Discovery Days and the church facility has allowed us to become state licensed, now with four classrooms for 2 - 5 year olds, serving pre-school needs for Blue Ridge and surrounding areas.

The children at Discovery Days Preschool take part in a living Christian environment where they participate in service to others, knowing Jesus and experiencing God as part of their everyday lives, learning how to get along with all kinds of children, discovering their own special qualities, and mastering the skills that will help them succeed in the public schools. 

This is a nurturing preschool that helps children in their emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth by using both academic and religious curriculum which enables them to participate in guided classroom experiences and relationship building skills.  These skills allow for growth in communication, expression through music, movement, drama, art and an understanding of the world around them.

Discovery Days was designed by BRUMC to be a multi-purpose, fully functional facility which communicates the warmth of home.  The carpeted open classrooms are furnished with equipment that allows conversion of room space into Christian Education classroom for Sunday School services.  We have a large gym that serves as an indoor playground when outside time in our fully fenced play yard is disrupted by bad weather.

We have several special events throughout the year that the children participate in.  These include a Christmas program celebrating the birth of Jesus, a Valentine and an Easter celebration.  Outreach to our area includes participation in the Meals on Wheels program, food pantry, and Senior Citizen program at our local community center. We also provide field trip opportunities, a school picture day, and a Graduation Ceremony and splash day before we close for the summer.

Our ministry is not only to provide a high quality program for children, but to be a ministry to their families as well!
