Established in 1989, the William Shelton Memorial Scholarhip Fund is a general scholarship fund administered by Brookstown United Methodist Church in memory of Mr. William H. Shelton. Gifts and memorials may be directed to this fund to support educational needs of church and community members.

Application
A letter of application and request must be received by the Scholarship committee providing a minimum of the following information:

Applicant's name
Applicant's address (primary or home)
School to which applicant has been accepted
Student status (full or part-time as defined by the registrar)
Degree being sought
Statement of need or merit. (This information is not intended to require a detailed financial statement for the applicant, but generally address the applicant's relationship to the church, their need financially and how an award would benefit them in their educational endeavors.
Any supporting letters that the applicant may desire to submit that attests to his merit or need.
Applicants may apply for the scholarship not more than six (6) times.

Applications are due to the Scholarship committee by July 1 each year. Applications may be submitted by a third party for a given student; however, only one application will be considered for the same applicant per year (July 1 through June 30).
