A Precious Package by International Mail
The work of revision of the New
Testament in the Hausa language in Northern Nigeria had been
in the making for some years. With all the many
little things that must be carefully cared for, and
the work checked, checked, and checked again before it could be
called ready for print, time--yes, years--passed by.
Finally that wonderful day came when all was ready. Those of us
working on it held the manuscript, and together we sang
Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow. It was truly
a wonderful day.
But, we then realized there was one more hurdle. The printing
must be done in London by the British and Foreign Bible Society.
How do we get this most precious bundle safely to London? Well,
it was wrapped--and it seemed such a very, very small package to
have taken so many years to produce, to be so important and to
contain such precious words. The package was tied to the back of
a bicycle, and one of the translators took it to the local post
office. There was nothing else to do but to trust it to the
international mail system.
Yes, finally it got to London, and eventually the completed Hausa
New Testament was in our hands.
Again, Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.
