The Last Supper

The full size reproduction of DaVinci's "The Last Supper," his most famous painting.

The original was painted on the refactory wall of the monastery of Santa Maria della Grazie in Milan. The painting captures the most dramatic moment of the Last Supper. Jesus has just said that one of His disciples would betray Him; they react with fear and amazement.

When the church was built the wall behind the choir was left blank. In 1922 Mr. & Mrs. Stafford saw a copy of the Last Supper at the Louvre in Paris. After checking the dimensions of the wall and the painting, they commissioned the famous Italian painter, Vittorio Gguandalini to reproduce the painting. He erected a scaffold before the original and made color studies and drawings. Before He could begin painting he passed away and another famous artist, Armando Vandelli, completed the project. The Painting was mounted on the blank wall in 1924 and has inspired the congregation ever since.
