Bridgewater United Methodist MenThe Bridgewater Methodist Men were chartered as an organization in the church in 1946. In 1968 they became the Bridgewater United Methodist Men.
The UMM meet the second Wednesday of each month from September through May for a carry-in dinner and a program. The November meeting is a Ladies Night ham and oyster dinner prepared by the men supplemented by the carry-in dishes. In February a Valentine dinner is held in a local restaurant with the ladies. Widows of Methodist Men and other guests are invited to both of these events. In June the Men serve a breakfast for the high school and college graduates in the church and their parents.
Over the years the major fund raising activity by the Methodist Men has been the Christmas tree project which was started in the 1950s. Chicken BBQs are another long time activity. More recent projects initiated have been raising a potato crop for the Food Pantry and pig roasts. The UMM have a long record of giving donations to the local fire department, rescue squad, Salvation Army and many other civic organizations as well to ongoing church programs and projects.
All men who are members of the United Methodist Church are by definition United Methodist Men and are welcome to join the active group.
