Dear
Friends:
There are a
great many songs through the years that symbolize summer: “In
the Good Old Summertime”, many Beach Boys tunes, and a song that I
will always associate with my father, the great Nat King Cole singing “Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer.”
The pace slows, temperatures rise,
the Coppertone comes out, and many enjoy picnics, the beach, pools, and
baseball. Ah, what good memories! I have fond memories of going to
Vacation Bible School in my home church, but I also remember that our
church going eased off a bit in the summer. Now I know many of you are
looking forward to a vacation or other get- away. Still, don’t forget
we will be open every Sunday throughout the summer and look forward to
seeing you as often as possible!
We have had a busy year with many
activities and programs. It is good to take a break somewhat during the
summer to recharge those batteries and prepare for the fall. So I want
to thank all our faithful members, committee chairs, and all who have
sweated, prayed, volunteered, taught, sang, worked, painted, cooked,
served, loved, and in general been faithful to Christ and our ministries
here in Bound Brook United Methodist.
The fact is we cannot do it without
you; the church remains a big volunteer organization. There are a few
paid staff, but the bulk of the work is done by you. So each week you
give because you love God and this church and your efforts are not
unnoticed- by God and by those around you.
Have a safe, relaxing, and happy
summer. We love all of you and trust that God will lead us into new
blessings as we serve the Kingdom together. Grace
& Peace, Pastor
Mark W. Ale
