ARE YOU MAKING DISCIPLES FOR GOD?
There are many ways to make disciples for God; one of them is carrying on
the business of the local Church.
This discipleship is sometimes a thankless endeavor, yet necessary!
We need to understand how important our church building is. How it is a
beacon in our community and to our members. How we garner strength from our
association with each other when we are gathered in this building. How it is
a place where we can commune with our God in times of sorry or joy! How our
families are nurtured by being able to have a place to gather.
In no way do I mean to imply that the physical church is our salvation but
how many of us would have the structure to worship if it were not for the
established church building.
I’m writhing this for two reasons; to inform and to thank!
My thanks go to all who serve on the committees and boards of our church.
Some of the projects that are being considered and/or have been initiated by
our different committees are;
• A wall to separate the areas in the basement. This wall is being built to
provide a more friendly and sociable area for our children both in Sunday
school and MYF. Other changes will include shelving across a portion of the
south wall.
• A roofed canopy over the south west exit door in the fellowship room. This
is being done to provide weather protection for this door. We have already
replaced this door once.
• An addition to the existing shelter house for storage. This is presently
in the planning stages and would likely consist of a 24 foot addition with a
garage door. This would be used for storing the seating that is used in the
shelter house along with other items that are presently cluttering up the
basement.
• Drying out the basement. This project is presently in a stage where we are
awaiting the drying out of the surrounding ground. The exterior drain will
then be excavated to determine if it is plugged. The surrounding ground will
be sloped to provide drainage and if needed an exterior sump pump will be
added.
• Shelving for the Sunday School rooms.
• The piano needs to be tuned. (This was completed the week of 5/11.)
• The current Health & Welfare committee chairperson Eva McCullough has
asked to be replaced in this position. What a wonderful job she has done for
the past many years. At this time we will be clarifying the duties of this
position and asking for a volunteer for Eva’s replacement.
• The Bonds Chapel web page needs to be updated. This has been accomplished.
Tune to www.BondsChapel.com.
• Evangelism committee will be meeting on ways that we can make disciples.
(Initial meeting has taken place.)
• We are discussing ways that we can provide a secure place for records and
items of historically value. Also we are discussing creating and maintaining
historic records for the church.
• Rob reported that we had received a $4000.00 grant from the District
Missionary’s Society.
Please get involved in the business of the church!
