Adult Activities

      Church School Classes                   

Builders Class: This class is the longest running in the Church School.  They use a lecture/ discussion format to study Cokesbury's adult curriculum.  The teacher is Carolyn Spiegel. 

Christians In Action (CIA): With creative spiritual leaders at the helm, the CIA class participates in a variety of Bible studies throughout the year. 

Seekers: The Seekers class offers a Bible study paired with caring fellowship.  They meet in the Ministries Building on Sunday mornings and at various other times and places, including members homes for fellowship.    Doug Williams is the teacher.

Basement: This class discusses a wide variety of topics and meets in Room 101 in the church basement.  They often share the responsibility of leadership as they change topics of discussion and study.

Movers: Generally, this class included parents of Middle School and High School-aged children.  They meet in the basement in Room 102.  Class members share in leading the class.

We Are Doing the Best We Can:  This class meets in Room 104 in the basement and involves parents of elementary-aged children and younger.    Class members share in leading the class.

     

  United Methodist Women
Bolivar UMC is privileged to have a very active UMW.  Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, August through June in the fellowship hall.

There are three UMW Groups at BUMC.

  Mary Martha-meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

  Friendship and Service meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.

  NOW Group meets on the third Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m.

 

    Adult    Choir
The Adult Choir brings the anthem to the 10:45 service on Sunday mornings.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings 7:00-8:00.  Director-Jodi Meadows.        

 

 Walk To Emmaus

Bolivar UMC is active in the Show Me the Way Emmaus Community of southwestern Missouri.  Walks are held for men and women in the spring and fall seasons at Camp Maranatha near Everton, MO.

The next Walk to Emmaus weekend retreats will be  #52 - October 8-11, 2009 for men and

                                                                                       #53 -  October 15-18 for women.   

Regular Reunion Group meetings are held in Bolivar:  Women – Tuesdays @ 5:30pm at the church 

                                                                                         Men – Tuesdays @ 7:00am at L J’s Bistro & Bakery   and   

                                                                                                    Saturdays at 8:00am at the church
