Members and Friends of Hope
Thank you
for you attention to worship during this busy summer season. Remember our
Thursday evening worship at
7:00 p.m.
It may work out better for you some weeks. We at Hope are trying
to meet your schedules and needs. Please let us know how we are doing.
The 7th
Annual Hispanic Ministry’s Clothing and Backpack give-away is quickly
approaching. Please drop off your new or gently-used clothing and backpacks at
Hope by August 1st. If you can help set up or assist with the
give-away, please contact Beth Agnew at 245-0371.
It’s
summer, and time for our annual Hope UMC Tom Parks Memorial Golf Tournament!!
The ability to golf is nice but not required, while the ability to have fun is
both nice
and
required!! The tournament will be held on
Sunday
8/10/08
at Eagle Rock Golf Course. We use a scramble format with teams of four
golfers. This is an 18 hole event with the first tee time at
12:00 PM.
Fees are $40 per golfer with a cart and $29 per golfer for walkers; these fees
are paid directly to Eagle Rock when you sign in to play on 8/10. In addition,
all golfers pay $10 for the HUMC Tom Parks landscaping fund. If you have
preferred playing partners please indicate your preference when you sign up.
There is a post-tournament potluck dinner (no further guidance is required for
this part - we all know how a classic United Methodist potluck works!!) at the
Church starting at
6:00 PM.
Non-golfers will be afforded a freewill opportunity to add to Tom's landscaping
fund at the dinner.
Everyone is welcome at the
potluck,
so even if you don't golf please join us for some great fun, food, and
fellowship in the grandest United Methodist tradition. Anyone and everyone is
welcome at the golf tournament
and
the
potluck - affiliation with or membership in HUMC is NOT required. If you have
friends who would like to participate in either or both parts, please invite
them. If you know friends of the Parks family who would like to honor Tom's
memory by playing golf or sharing some potluck fellowship, please invite them.
Please indicate your wish to participate by e-mail or phone call to the church -
there is also a sign up sheet that will be at the church between now and the
tournament. Please call John Felton at 259-7801 with any questions.

reminder: The deadline for the August newsletter is
noon
on 7/24.
Enjoy
your summer. It is passing quickly. Soon school will start and we
will be back to our full schedule (I don’t want it to sneak up on you!).
