A LITTLE CHURCH IN THE COUNTRY
The first church service was held in the late spring of 1927. The church was a one room structure. It was built to serve the needs for a church in the
neighborhood and was called a union church. The First United Methodist
Church was organized on January 18, 1948. Also at this time plans were made to move the old build that had served as the church to the back of the lot and a new sanctuary was to be built. Do to limited finances it never got past the drawing board stage. In 1950 the last church designed by the
famous architect, Nicholas Joseph Clayton was purchased. It was formerly used
as the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City Texas and it was a monumental
task to move the Historic Church from Bay City to Boling. Down gravel roads
it took a team of 16 large Missouri mules and several days to move it. Has
had its hard times and its good times sense the 1920's. It is a beautiful white
frame church with beautiful stained glass windows. It has been at its present
location for forty nine years. But even though it's a small church it is full of
God's love.
