Boy Scout Troop 324 has been an important part of Bethel since 1953, producing 61 Eagle Scouts and more on the way. Several Adult Leaders provide the support needed to insure Troop 324’s success. T324 is active in The Order of the Arrow (OA) with a long history of service to others. As usual, when summer 2007 came, Troop 324 went into high gear! May started with a Skeet Shooting Camping Trip at Indigo Sporting Clays, and a Camp Barstow Work Day Camping Trip the following weekend. We went to get our “adopted” camp site ready for Summer Camp and to service and repair the Ken Allen Memorial Basketball Court that Troop 324 built from memorial donations made in his honor. June had full week of Summer Camp for Troop 324 with several rank advancements and merit badge requirements accomplished. July brought our second week of Summer Camp at Camp Raven Knob in Lowgap, NC with more advancement and merit badge requirement achieved. Who said T324 is all work and no play? August brought a fun weekend at James Island County Park with a full day at the Splash Zone Water Park. Rumor has it the water slides may need replacement due to the wear our scouts and a certain un-named Scoutmaster placed on them. More rank advancement requirement were attained that evening with a Great Peach Cobbler made and served by one of our new scouts with assistance from our Troop Guide, a fellow older scout whose job is to assist new scouts. September will bring a fun Camping Trip to Table Rock with two fund raisers, a Canoe Trip, a Council Camporee, and one or two Courts of Honor. Troop 324 recognized it 60th and 61st Eagle Scout with two Eagle Courts of Honor this summer with several more on the way. Troop 324 has a year round program providing Scouts the opportunity to advance to the rank of Eagle by age 14 if they attend meetings and summer camps and are willing to do the work required. FUN is a priority at T324 and every outing and event is planned for maximum fun while advancing in rank. If you are age 11-18 and interested in joining Boy Scouts or know someone who is contact us thru one of the links provided or call Bethel United Methodist Church. |
