The Native American Salkehatchie Camp

 will be working this summer with the

Pee Dee Indian Nation of Upper South Carolina, headquartered in the Dillon, SC area.

Salkehatchie Summer Service is a program of the South Carolina Conference Board of Global  Ministries and consists of a number of work camps for United Methodist Youth. During the week participants physically improve homes of needy families and reach out to these families and one another in friendship.

      Last summer, 41 camps and more than 2900 participants were involved. Each camp runs Saturday to Saturday from May through July.  Included is the Native American Camp directed by Bart and Anna Sistare.  This camp focuses on the needs of South Carolina’s Native American population of approximately 42,000.  It moves to different locations each summer.  Pictures are shown below.
