February 2007 Message 

 

 

The congregation of Bethany United Methodist Church continuously prays for God's restorative healing powers upon Reverend Allan. It is such a blessing to see Reverend Allan with us for Sunday worship and we eagerly await his arrival to preach and share the good news of Christ's love with us in February.

As this message is written, there are twenty seven days until Christmas. We hope you have finished all of your shopping and have just the right gift for each person on your list. We pray that all of us at Bethany can settle down in the next twenty seven or so days and reflect on what this day we call Christmas is all about, whose birthday it is , and why it is so significant.

The gospel of Luke, Chapter 1, verses 30-35 says:
"The angel assured her, Mary you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called 'Son of the Highest.' The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will rule over Jacob's house forever--no end, ever, to his kingdom."

WOW! God sent his only son to us not as a military leader, but as someone to bridge the gap between huanity and God; to bridge the great divide we create when we turn from God and God's love for all people. Talk about love, hope, forgiveness, and mercy!!
