Pastor Susan Walker Berwick United Methodist Church

Susan Walker Pastor Susan and Steve Walker come to us from the First United Methodist Church of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where their family has been members since 2001.

They have four children, Sharon, Paul, Timothy and Christopher. Sharon lives in Williamston, North Carolina with her husband Ricky and their sixteen-month-old daughter Natalie. Paul lives in Dover, New Hampshire with his wife Sheila and their sons Damien and Kyle. Tim will be going into his junior year at UNH. Christopher is a sophomore at Portsmouth High School.

Pastor Susan has been involved in ministry since 1989 through her work as The Minister of Care for Morris Memorial UMC, The Director of Caring Ministries for Elizabeth Memorial UMC and as Youth Minister for St. Marks UMC, all located in Charleston, West Virginia. In 1997, she became the Visitation Minister for Mulberry Street UMC, located in Mount Vernon, Ohio where she and her family moved for her to attend seminary at The Methodist Theological School in Ohio, or Methesco as it is more commonly known.

While in seminary, she also completed Local Pastoral Licensing School, became a Certified Candidate For Ordained Ministry, Co-Pastored The Fredericktown Circuit and Pastored The Mount Vernon Circuit. In 2001, she graduated from Methesco with a Master Of Divinity degree and she and her family moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire with her husband's work.

Since moving to Portsmouth, they have been very involved in their home church, The First UMC of Portsmouth. Steve has served on Trustees, the Building Study committee, and worked the sound system for many of the worship services. Chris has been in the Youth Group, Sunday School classes and enjoys singing in the choir. Pastor Susan has served as Visitation Minister and began and coordinated the Visitation Ministry. She has also worked with the Nurture and Worship committees, Seacoast Interfaith Hospitality Network, and FUMC Leadership for The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. While in Portsmouth, she has also served as Pastor Of The English-Speaking Service for Greenland UMC and Interim Pastor for West Scarborough UMC. She has served as a clergyperson for Portsmouth Regional Hospital, completed a Chaplaincy Internship at Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Clinical Pastoral Education at Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Massachusetts. She has also held several other jobs and is currently the chaplain for Amedisys Hospice of Portsmouth.

Pastor Susan and Steve feel very blessed to be appointed to Berwick UMC and look forward to many years of worship and ministry as part of our church family.
