Carolyn Notemyer

BERWICK, Maine - Carolyn Marion Notemyer, age 76, passed away on March 13, 2009 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.

She was born in Johnson, Vt., on April 19, 1932, the daughter of Chesley and Ellen (Symonds) Notemyer. Carolyn graduated from Berwick High School and later from nursing schools in New Hampshire. For 43 years, Ms. Notemyer worked as a registered nurse at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and other hospitals in Connecticut and California. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, the South Berwick Senior Center and the Berwick Methodist Church. Carolyn enjoyed knitting, walking with her friends at the Senior Center and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.

She was survived by her sisters, Mary Cheney of Berwick; and Noreen Cook and her husband Bill of Lyme, Conn.; nieces and nephews, Janet Klebaur and her husband Paul; Ronald Cheney; Peter Cook; Ellen Cook; and Michael Cook and his wife Betsy; and many great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Monday, March 16 at the Berwick Methodist Church, 37 School St., Berwick, at 1 p.m. Arrangements are with Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Berwick Methodist Church, 37 School St., Berwick, ME 03901 or to the South Berwick Senior Center, 71 Norton St., South Berwick, ME 03908.
