Carolyn Lawrence

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine ó Carolyn G. (Leach) Lawrence, 77, a resident of Witchtrot Road, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Berwick on Oct. 17, 1925, a daughter of Henry E. and Elizabeth E. Schulmaier Leach. She graduated from Berwick High School, Class of 1943, and from the University of New Hampshire with a master's degree in science. She was a bacteriologist for several hospitals for 30 years, mostly in Dover, N.H., and Portsmouth, N.H. She was past president of the N.H. Society of Medical Technologists. She was a 70-year member of the Berwick United Methodist Church, where she was a trustee for over 10 years, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of South Berwick. She enjoyed weaving and knitting.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Philip C. Lawrence of South Berwick; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours were held July 30 at the Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, Berwick. Funeral services were held on July 31 at the Berwick United Methodist Church, Berwick, with Dr. Peggy Dunn officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery, Berwick.
