Green Mountain Preschool

Green Mountain Preschool was started in September of 1981 by the First United Methodist Church. The preschool is an outreach mission to Bennington and surrounding communities.    First United Methodist Church  and the preschool staff are committed to providing quality education to all three and four year old children.   At Green Mountain Preschool, time is provided for large and small group play as well as time to explore alone.  The day is balanced with choice time and teacher- directed time.
We believe that good communication is the key to a secure and happy environment.  Ex pectations are clearly stated by both staff and children.  Peer problem solving is emphasized.

Philosophy

We believe it is our responsibility to provide a transition from home to community which will:
Increase self-esteem. Increase awareness of others.
Demonstrate that staff members are trustworthy, consistent, and concerned for all children in the group.

Goals

To foster social intellectual, physical and moral development in children through their own activity and discovery.
To provide our children with experiences and materials in group play that are not usually available in the home.
To help children learn to value themselves and to be aware of the needs of others.
To aid children in the development of their listening skills and interest span.
To provide an environment for children to learn, discover and interact with others.
