Reverend Jon-Marc MacLean

Growing up in a pastor’s home made a huge impact on Jon-Marc. He sees Christianity as a way of life that is very hands-on and interactive.

Pastor Marc grew up asking a lot of questions about life, faith, and the world around him. This quest for understanding eventually led him to Florida State University, where he majored in Comparative Religion and Philosophy. He spent several of his collegiate years as a youth director, as well as leading campus-based bible studies. During his junior year he attended a retreat on basic Christian theology. At the end of the retreat participants were asked to write down one thing they were going to offer to God in the coming year. Without hesitation, Pastor Marc wrote “part-time youth ministry.” During a time of prayer following this pronouncement, it became clear that God didn’t want anything part-way from him and he changed his answer to what he realized he had been avoiding for some time... full-time pastoral ministry.

After graduating from FSU, Pastor Marc attended Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, where he received his Master’s in Divinity. During this time Pastor Marc led ministries to young adults in several congregations. His firm conviction that the Church should minister to the whole person led him to complete an M.A. in Clinical Counseling.

In January of 2000 he received his first appointment to a church in South Tampa where he met his lovely wife, Mary Jo. Mary Jo is talented in her own right. She has a beautiful voice that she shares with us at service. Her warm, quiet presence is a joy to us all. They have been married for three years.

Pastor Marc is unconventionally orthodox in his beliefs. He is very involved in ministry and outreach while being both accessible and supportive. He has a warm connection with our youth and children while actively working with the adult population. His pastoral goal is to unify the church and help it to grow through team mentality with discipleship and nurture ministries being the major focal points.

He sees his personal ministry as equipping people for their ministry, walking beside them in love on their walk through life.
