The Beggs First United Methodist Church serves the community of Beggs as it did when it began back in 1902. It still sits on the same corner of 6th and Broadway as it did when the first church was constructed in 1905. The changes in the last 91 years have been to expand our programs to serve the community and the cause of Jesus Christ better. Today we have a full range of Sunday school classes, from the youngest to the oldest.
Every summer we keep with the tradition of vacation bible school. We have an active and involved United Methodist Youth Group. We have two very active and supportive women’s groups. We are home to an AA program and the meeting place for a Cub Scout Troop.
The membership of our church, 292 members, is strongly involved and active in our community in service, leadership, and actions. And our leadership, a blend of age and experience with youth and energy, is positioned to allow the church to grow in the future in faith, in numbers, and in service as our community grows. |
~ Beggs 1st United Methodist Mission Statement ~
The Ministry of the Frist United Methodist Church has as its purpose to glorify God and make desciples for Jesus Christ. We believe God is calling us to extend His love in concrete ways not only to those within our church, but also to the unchurched in our community. These goals will be accomplished through prayer, study, and other activities, with the anticipation of God's blessing and a renewed relationship with Jesus Christ. The results of this emphasis will include spiritual growth and fellowship for all inside and outside the church.

APPORTIONMENTS
A Portion Meant for Others
Nothing is more unique to the United Methodist Church than the concept of Apportionments. It is through our Apportionments that the United Methodist Church supports the many projects and programs that we have in Oklahoma, the country and the world.
It is through our Apportionments that we support 3 church camps in Oklahoma that operate year-round. It through our Apportionments that we support children’s homes, a boys ranch and nursing homes. Our Apportionments also support Oklahoma City University and Wesley Foundation houses for students at our state universities and colleges. Our Apportionments help support an independent university in Africa. Through our Apportionments we support UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief that give help to people impacted by disasters like the tornado that Oklahoma City, hurricane Katrina, and the fires in California. Our apportionments help pay the salaries of our District Superintendents and Bishop and send pastors to school.
Our Apportionments are what we do outside the local church
to change the world and make it a better place for everyone.
