God Has Graciously
Supplied All We Need—Share His Bounty
Macon,
Americus, Valdosta, St. Marys, Columbus or Waverly
Hall. These are the locations of the
main campus and the group homes for the Methodist
Home for Children and Youth. We
will send another supply of linens to Macon in November, before Thanksgiving. We still need three-piece towel sets, mattress pads for single beds, pillows and pillow covers. You
have been so generous many times over this past year. Your generosity is being
felt at all of these campuses. It
touches the heart of God when you bless one
of the least of these, and the Thanksgiving season is a wonderful
time to express our gratitude.
If
you would prefer a different expression of your gratitude, there is a need for
African –American shampoos, styling gels and mousse. The preferred brands are Waves, Motion and
Cream of Nature. The Home receives an
abundance of hair-care products donated for the white residents, but the
African-American residents have to purchase their own with their very modest
allowances.
The linens or hair-care products can be left in the church office, or you can contact Judith
Maxwell (246-4589) for pick-up. Thank you.

Is Anybody Listening?
“I love the Lord because
He hears and answers my prayers. Because
He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (Psalm 116:1-2, NLT)
The psalmist was eager to pray and approached God with enthusiasm
because he was confident that God was not only stooping down to listen, but
also that God was intensely interested in what he was saying. How many times do you feel like nobody is
interested enough to really listen
to what you have to say? How often do
you feel your concerns are glossed over, trivialized, or
ignored by those to whom you try to express them? One of our greatest needs is to be known and understood by someone who we value. What a blessing for Christians to have that
need met by the One who will not only listen, but who understands and loves you
so deeply. Your Heavenly Father is
waiting to bend down and listen to you today.
Spend time with Him in prayer.

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP
NEEDS
On Monday Night, October 19th, the group discussing contemporary
worship met and discussed what was experienced at
other contemporary worship services. The
three things we focused on were: hospitality, atmosphere, and
organization. Smaller groups of people were created to discuss these particular items at a deeper
level. Additionally, we discussed a few
of the purchases that will need to be made as we seek
excellence in worship. Below is a wish
list of some of the items we will need in the next few months as we look to the
2nd Sunday of January for kicking off our new service. If you as an individual or as a group would
like to purchase or contribute towards purchasing any of these items, please
contact Jimmy-Steve for more information.

STEWARDSHIP
Traditionally our 4th quarter
giving has been strong at FUMC, and I expect it will be again. Currently we
have paid 75% of our Conference and District apportionments. I am sure we will
continue our record of 100%. We owe $24,000 to reach our goal. Thanks for your
continued support. Our Financial Campaign has begun! In these weeks before
Commitment Sunday in November prayerfully consider how you have
been blessed and how you can be a blessing. God is generous and faithful
and calls us to
be the same.
TLC(Food Bank)
Thank you to those who regularly
contribute to TLC (food bank) and donate clothing for those in need. We are
always in need of personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand
sanitizer, anti-bacterial wipes <check Dollar Tree>, toilet paper),
canned meats (ham, chicken, tuna, salmon), canned fruit, small boxes/bottles of
laundry detergent, breakfast items (pop tarts, cereal bars, individual packages
of oatmeal), and canned vegetables (other than green beans). Please feel free
to drop off items at the church or make financial donations earmarked TLC. As
you are blessed, bless others.
New
Study Offered—Anger to Intimacy
With all of its excitement and
anticipation, we are approaching the most stressful time of the year. We can find ourselves stressed to the point
of not being able to enjoy the wonder of the Advent season. On Thursday, November 5, at 10:00 in the
Library of the Sunday School building, we will begin
the six-session study entitled Anger to
Intimacy by Dr. Gary Smalley and Ted Cunningham. This new study focuses on forgiveness and
handling our emotions Biblically to restore and maintain healthy relationships
in our everyday world. The cost of this
study is $13, which includes the study guide and DVDs. We will meet three weeks before Thanksgiving
(Nov. 5, 12, and 19), break for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and meet January 7,
14, and 21 to complete the study. Please
join us for this down-to-earth approach to relationships. Contact Judith Maxwell (246-4589) for
additional information and to let us know that you will join us.
Help
During the Holidays
As the holidays are quickly approaching, the Young Adult Sunday
School Class is raising money to provide Angel Food boxes to needy families in
Decatur County. A donation of $30 can purchase enough food to feed a
family of four for a week or more. Please consider supporting the hungry
families in our community through a donation to Angel Food Ministries.
You can donated by writing a check to FUMC and putting
“Angelfood donation” in the memo line. Checks
or cash donations can be dropped off at church or given to
any Young Adult Sunday School Class member. You can also give
online at www.angelfoodministries.com. Be sure to put Bainbridge First
United Methodist Church as the location, and be sure to indicate that the box
is to be donated in the notes section. Donations
will be accepted through the first week of
December. If you have any questions, you can contact Dayna
Watson, Dana Bryant or the church office.
Movie
Day, November 13
We
will have Movie Day on Friday, November 13, at 2:00 pm at the Maxwell house (located
at 1502 Lakewood Drive). The Inn of the
Sixth Happiness, a classic from the mid 50s will be our featured film which is
based on the true story of Gladys Aylward, played by
Ingrid Bergman, a British maid who became a missionary in China and accepted the
challenge to guide 100 children through enemy territory and into safety during
the Chinese-Japanese war.
Join
us for popcorn, a drink and a movie for a dime (which goes for missions).
