MOMENTS FOR MINISTRY:
VBS PROGRAM! STUDIO GO!
When we entered the sanctuary this morning we found ourselves
on the set of a game show! Tall blue curtains dotted with
tiny lights, and a real "wheel of fortune" caught our
attention on the 'stage'. Our game show host was Tim Schnepp
who welcomed us.
This week's missions fundraiser was to raise money
for Ishe Anesu. A special collection was taken to add to the money
raised by the VBS kids this week.
The very enthusiastic VBS kids marched in singing "Studio GO!"
All were wearing t-shirts they had made in Crafts this week.
(Decorated with stamp art (crosses, churches, etc.).
Next, the Pre/K & 1st/2nd classes sang "Wherever I Go".
Now we got to experience a sample of the game show theme
the kids had fun with this week. Our host introduced
the contestant for "Who wants to be a dollaire?"
(One of the past VBS mascot puppets, a dog named Cooper.)
For the first question:
How much fun did we have at VBS this year?
He wasn't sure of the answer so
he asked the audience. Answer: A whole lot!
For the second question Cooper had to
phone a friend (another mascot, Darryl the Barrel).
How much did we raise for Ishe Anesu during the week of VBS?
Almost $900! The third question was "Who got pied in the
face on Friday? Answer: Tim/Paige!
After the game show, all the VBS classes sang two more
songs: "Nothing to Fear" (with air guitars) and "I Will!"
(which Megan Skadberg and Drew Davidson led the singers).
The week's Storytellers gave us a very creative mini version of each day's
lesson:
Monday: Go Lead! Gideon leads the Israelites to victory
(Judges 7:1-22)
Tuesday: Go Risk! Queen Esther risks her life for God's people
(Esther 4-7)
Wednesday: Go Tell! Jesus lives again, and the women run to tell
(Matthew 27:27-54; 28:1-10)
Thursday: Go Obey! The apostles obey by taking a stand for Jesus
(Acts 5:17-32)
Friday: Go Serve! King Ananias serves God by helping Saul
(Acts 9:1-19)
Next more music:
I Will Love and Serve You (3rd/4th & 5th/6th)
I Have Decided to Follow Jesus (pre/K & 1st/2nd)
I'm Gonna Serve (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, & 5th/6th)
Presentation of VBS Teachers/Classes
Each class received laminated certificates with their names in
calligraphic (done by Jona Metro-Lucies). A good
souvenir of VBS. They also
received a certificate and coupon (for a free kid's
meal provided by Chik-fil-a), and a token from Culver's
for a free dip of ice cream. They also received a CD
of the VBS songs.

today!
Audrey asks prayers for her sis-in-law who is having tests
on her lungs this week.
Barb let us know that friend Gail Roswarski went to
California to be healed over. Prayers the cancer will

One of the VBS girls told us she is moving to Alaska,
and hopes her mom finds a good job there.

him in a good mood. He is also glad that Kenny is
better and in no pain.
Kenny gave thanks to best friend Ryan. Also thanks
to the Big Man upstairs "for letting me be here."
Linda A. gave praises for the past week--the best she
has had in months. Continued prayers for her brother Dale.
He gets out of breath so easy.
Gracious Lord, thank You for this day and this week.

Amen.

NOTES:
Growing up around Sheridan, Indiana, we always heard every
year, Clara Hoover's weather forecast for each season.
She is so observant of nature that she just figures out
what the weather's going to do. Her accuracy has always
been pretty on the money. She was invited to be on one
of the late night talk shows once, but turned them down!
She has been on WISH TV channel 8 with Dick Wolfsie.
Here's this summer's forecast:
