Joe and I were married seven years when Josh entered our family. Shortly after came diapers and baby furniture, toys and toddler ware. JoAnne arrived and there were dolls and trucks, tractors and blocks. As J & J grew older they occupied more space and computers, books, quilts, artwork . . . indicated their presence. The house accommodated for each addition and in the process the meaning of “home” deepened.
I see a parallel with our Christian lives. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would dwell within His followers. The human “house” for God is each of us. The Spirit’s presence enters quietly and doesn’t seem to take much space. But as time passes and we grow in faith, God’s presence expands through the house. Old habits are cast away. New qualities, faith, love, patience take their place.
There have been days I hoped friends didn’t make a surprise visit. J & J’s presence sometimes manifested as a “mess”. The Spirit’s working in our lives sometimes looks “messy”. We don’t mature without frustration, confusion or pain. But as God’s Spirit lives within and gains territory, His “house” becomes a home. J & J turned house to home in a physical-emotional sense. Christ within us turns ordinary individuals into homes for Christ.

Well, it’s a new year and I have already planned some activities for the children from Preschool – 5th Grades. Please make sure (parents & children) to check the bulletin boards inside the double glass doors and up to the classrooms for any updates/information.
I am also a member of the Missions Committee and we will be sponsoring the Tools and Blanket Program as part of Church World Service to raise awareness and funds to be donated to CWS at the end of February. The Tools and Blanket Program provides blankets and fishing boats, rebuilds children’s confidence and reconstructs homes and livelihoods. CWS helps those in need from the hurricane ravaged Gulf States of our own nation to the farther shores of some 80 nations. Refugees returning home can be helped with tools to rebuild and seeds to replant the fields. Families living in drought plagued areas are helped to dig wells to clean, safe drinking water and for water to irrigate crops and gardens.
We would like to involve EVERYONE in the congregation, including the children in this endeavor. For the next 6 weeks, we would like to encourage the children to bring money to Sunday School and/or church. For every 25 cents contributed they will be able to place a sticker on the “blanket” or the “toolshed”. We would also like to ask each person in the congregation to contribute to this worthy cause and will place stickers on the “blanket”/”toolshed” for them also. If every person in the congregation contributes at least $2 the church will receive an Honor Certificate from Church World Service. Please be generous by providing a rainbow of caring to people in need around the world. May God bless you for your support.
Club Impact 2 includes children from the neighborhood and church who are aged four through fourteen. We meet every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. for games, snacks, and, more importantly, to learn about God and how God would have us to live.

Two of our five Adult classes are also using the Seasons of the Spirit cirriculum, and the other three Adult classes choose their own study with the assistance of the Director of Christian Education. These groups use material that is current, and usually from our United Methodist publishing house, Cokesbury. They provide a rich and varied choice for new students entering our Christian Education Ministry.
For Children and Youth, classes are divided by age and grade level: Nursery, Preschool, Kindergarten, First and Second Grades, Third through Fifth Grades, Middle School, and Senior High.
Our Adult Classes include: Monroe, Wesley, Thresholds, Rechargers, and a Book Discussion Group.
Please feel free to drop into any of our classrooms and join in the discussion.
