Hello Everyone, Greetings from Battle Mountain United Methodist Church:

We have an awesome God who never stops taking part in this world we live in.  I have no doubt that it is God who opened the door for me to step through into Battle Mountain.  I'm delighted and thankful.

I grew up in Illinois and didn't migrate west until 1977.  My two kids were grown and my husband and I kept moving our RV farther north in California, living on job sites where he was in construction and I continued my career in offices as either a secretary and/or office manager.  When we finally decided to build a house in Point Arena, a coastal town about three hours north of San Francisco, my mother said, "I can't believe you're finally going to settle down in one place!"

It was in Point Arena that Cursillo hit me.  Some of you may know the Methodist version of Cursillo called Walk to Emmaus.  Although I had been a fairly-steady church goer throughout my life, this "short course in practical, loving Christianity" called Cursillo left me with the sure knowledge that God loves me just as I am, right where I am in my spiritual journey.  I wanted to know more about this awesome God we have.

After my husband died in 1993 I went into what was then called the ELM (Energizing Lay Ministry) program of the Methodist Church and was assigned to serve as pastor of the Montague Methodist Church, just east of route 5 and just south of the Oregon border.  While there I earned my licensed local pastor certification.

After leaving Montague, I traveled with my dog in another RV for about fourteen months before settling back into a life as a volunteer in Point Arena-until God called me to Battle Mountain where I'm settled in to stay.

I have found the Battle Mountain congregation more than willing to share their understanding of a loving, caring God who is interested in each person's daily life, a God who is teaches, heals, comforts, and forgives.

Yeah, we have an awesome God.  Come hear about him on Sunday mornings.  Come hear how God can turn your life around and make you whole.  It is Jesus who holds out his hand and quietly says, "Come."

In Christs’ Service,

Diane Johnson
