Where is your church and when are services?Ballard Vale United Church is located at 23 Clark Road in the Ballard Vale section of Andover (more detailed directions). Our worship service starts at 10:30am every Sunday morning throughout the year and usually last about one hour. After the service, we share food and fellowship downstairs in Shaw Hall. Will I be welcome? You will be very welcome! As written in our statments of belief, we welcome and affirm all persons who wish to participate in the fellowship and spiritual growth of this reconciling congregation and open and affirming church without regard to age, disability, economic status, gender, gender identity, race, sexual orientation or social standing. Please come visit us! What is your primary focus, main charter? To Feed the Need is our hope, goal, and mission at Ballard Vale United Church. We strive to feed the needs of our members through spiritual growth, education and fellowship. We strive to feed the need in Lawrence, the Merrimack Valley and the world beyond. How do people dress for the service? We encourage you to come as you are comfortable. Some of us dress casually and some more formally. Are you handicap accessible? Our church is fully accessible. We have handicapped parking and building access, wheelchair seating, and an elevator. We also have large print bulletins and hearing assists. What happens during the service? We worship together at 10:30am each Sunday morning throughout the year in a setting which includes hymns and anthems, Scripture and sermon. We share our faith in prayer and song. Come join us - we are a small church who welcomes everyone with warmth and love. What do children do during the service?Children four and older typically stay for the first twenty minutes of the service with their families until the Junior Sermon starts. The children then go to the front of church and sit in a group with our pastor, Dr. Ed Deyton, for this short talk. At the end of the talk, the teachers escort the children to their religious education classes. Each week we will share a story and give the children an opportunity to respond to it using a variety of craft supplies. We can provide nursery care for children under four, just speak with an usher when you arrive for the service. Is there a Youth Group?Yes, there is an active Youth Group! The Ballard Vale United Church Youth Group is open to all teenagers in 7th through 12th grade. We typically meet twice a month, engaging in a variety of activities including a mix of service projects, fundraisers, fellowship events and field trips. Our primary goal is to maintain a strong connection between the Youth Group members and the church, while they figure out the ways in which their faith affects how they live in the world. What if I don't see an answer to my question in this FAQ?Please contact us for further information.
