We're in Summer Mode! - Our Summer Sunday School program runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Each week we will share a story and give the children an opportunity to respond to it using a variety of craft supplies. Although primarily geared toward preschool and elementary aged children, older children and teenagers are more than welcome to participate if they are willing to help with the younger children.

Sunday School restarts in the Fall - We will begin our 2008-2009 program year with Rally Day on Sunday, September 7th. On most Sundays, students begin their day in the Sanctuary where they participate in the worship service for the first twenty minutes. After the Pastor shares his children's sermon, the students leave for their individual classes. From September through May, we have three Sunday School classes. All of our classes use the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum.

  • Preschool through 2nd Grade Class - This class will typically hear a bible story and then explore it further through a craft project. We incorporate a lot of music and movement opportunities as well.
  • 3rd through 6th Grade Class - These students will hear and discuss a bible story each week. Sometimes they respond to what they have heard through a craft project. Other times they will play a game or engage in an improvisation.
  • 7th through 10th Grade Class - The teenagers in this class often relate the bible passages they hear to current events or personal experiences. Their discussions are an opportunity to help connect their faith to their day to day life.
  • 11th & 12th Grade Opportunities - Students in these grades are encouraged to become assistant teachers in the younger children's classes or to remain in the Sanctuary for worship.
  • Youth Group - The Ballard Vale United Church Youth Group is open to all teenagers in 7th through 12th grade. Each year we engage in a variety of activities including a mix of service projects, fundraisers, fellowship events and field trips. Our primary goal is to maintain a strong connection between the Youth Group members and the church, while they figure out the ways in which their faith affects how they live in the world.
  • Junior Choir - The children and youth enjoy learning songs and performing them in front of the congregation as part of the Junior Choir. This group also participates in special services.
