Boy Scouts of America Troop 76 |
Boy Scout Troop 76 (Super Ducks) meets at the Ballard Vale United Church on Friday nights at 7:00pm. The Scoutmaster is Don Milligan; Committee Chairman, Gary Hall. There are currently over 20 Scouts active in the troop. We have a very active Committee and several Assistant Scoutmasters - more information is contained on our website: http://bsatroop76ballardvale.org/. Troop 76 is a mixture of Scouts from all backgrounds. The troop's strength is that the boys run the troop. Advancement is strongly encouraged and the the older Scouts help the younger boys. The troop is known for their Troop Spirit and producing several Eagle Scouts. The troop participates in most Council Wide events, has a very strong outdoor program and spends a week every July at Camp Onway in Raymond, NH. Ballard Vale United Church has sponsored Troop 76 ever since we merged with Union Congregational and the Methodist Episcopal churches in Ballard Vale. Before the merger the toop was sponsored by the Methodist Episcopal church. Email Boy Scout Troop 76 for more information. |

Where We All Learn Together |
|
Ballard Vale Preschool was established in 1972 as a non-profit organization serving neighborhood children from Andover and the surrounding communities. We offer our families large, bright and cheerful classrooms, flexible schedules and continuous communication from loving, well-educated teachers. We have a large fenced-in playground and are conveniently located one mile from Route 93. We Have a Lot to Offer:
Philosophy and CurriculumWe believe the central purpose of a preschool is to guide children toward their fullest development - physically, emotionally and socially in a loving and nurturing environment. Children learn through doing and thus need a flexible program designed to meet their individual development needs. Our program and curriculum are designed to encourage children to develop self-reliance, self-confidence and self-control. We provide children with plenty of opportunity to see themselves as explorers, discoverers, problem solvers and inventors. Activities are developed around themes and are supported by literature. These themes are carried out in the areas of dramatic play, group activities, physical development, arts and crafts, science, music, math, sensory experiences, computers and language development (self-concepts). On the average, our teachers have been with us for more than ten years providing innovation, continuity and continuing education to our program. The student ratio of 5:1 allows us to better understand and respond to the growth, development and unique characteristics of each child. Our parents are actively involved in our Steering Committee, along with the teachers and representatives of the Ballard Vale United Church (our sponsor). The committee helps in determining policy and developing goals, objectives and methods for implementation. In addition, parents can also join in fundraising events, monthly parent gatherings, Mother's Day Tea, field trips and in-class volunteering. You're in the LoopStarting preschool may be a child's first experience away from his or her parents. In sensitivity to this, Ballard Vale Preschool has an Open Door Policy. Parents are encouraged to visit at any time, and parents' comments or suggestions are always appreciated. We provide progress reports twice during the school year. Parent conferences may be scheduled at those times or whenever needed by parents or teachers. The children's curriculum is enhanced by regular field trips, classroom visitors and hands-on learning. Parents have the opportunity to be involved in these trips and special activities and to offer their assistance in classroom learning, parties and general help to the preschool teachers. We encourage parent involvement in the Steering Committee and provide all parents with the minutes from each of those meetings. Parents also receive a monthly schedule of the classroom curriculum and have easy access to the school's bulletin board of events. Finally, the teachers and our director are always available to hear your questions and concerns. Admission & Registration ProceduresThe Preschool hosts an Open House every year during the month of January for parents who are interested in learning more about the program. You are welcome to come in with your child to visit us at any time. You will have the opportunity to discuss the school's curriculum, see the classrooms and ask questions. Registration is accepted on a first-come first-served basis, with priority given to returning students. Tuition is paid as a yearly fee divided into ten installments. A deposit of 1/10th of the total tuition is required upon acceptance and is applied to your last payment of the school year. Starting PreschoolIt is a state requirement that children have a completed Health and Immunization Record before being admitted to the preschool. This form is provided by Ballard Vale Preschool and must be signed by a physician. Confidential records are maintained on each child according to the regulations of the The Department of Early Education and Care. Parents may have access to these records at reasonable times. Ballard Vale Preschool is licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and complies with the regulations of the The Department of Early Education and Care.
