The music ministry at Baldwin Memorial provides opportunties
for people of all ages to lead the congregation in song, teach
the congregation new songs and bring the stories of scripture
and the church to life through music.
There are four groups providing music leadership on a regular schedule.
There is a Children's Choir (grades 1-5) with eight members and
a volunteer leader, a Teen Troupe (grades 6-12) with eight members,
a Chancel Choir (adults)with sixteen members and a Handbell Choir
(adults) with eleven members.
The adult and children's choirs have represented Baldwin Memorial at the
American Guild of Organists Choral Festival held in November at the Naval
Academy Chapel. This festival is an interdenominational community-wide
festival service supported last year by thirty-two churches.
Members of the Chancel Choir and the Handbell Choir participated in the
Crofton Ecumenical Choir Festival in February, which featured choirs from
the seven participating churches.
The Handbell Choir joined two other area churches in December for the Handbell
Spectacular-Ring in the Season in Annapolis. In March, the Handbell Choir played
at a Sunday worship service at Severn United Methodist Church.
In March, the music program led in the production of a church wide intergenerational
music drama, combining the talents of forty-nine church members. This was the seventh
year that a music drama has been presented. The presentation of this drama during
both of the Sunday morning worship services is one of the high points of the church
year. This year's study and preparation focused on the story of Esther through the
music drama "Malice in the Palace" by Tom Long and Allen Pote.
Baldwin Memorial maintains a 12-rank Moller pipe organ, 4 octaves of English
handbells, 4 octaves of hand chimes and a music library.
