Help support our Scouting Ministry Sponsored by United Methodist Men Foundation In 1981, United Methodist Men
were told that the United Methodist Church was going to get out of
sponsoring the scouting program.
United Methodist Men decided that we did not desire to quit the scouting ministry. So we decided to provide the leadership and establish a scouting office inside the office of United Methodist Men. To fund this office, UMMen began to hold annual fund raisers called Bowl-A- Thons. Our local fellowships went out and got pledges for how many pins they would knock down when they bowled. Over the years, UMMen have raised over a Million Dollars to support scouting. In this the 100th year of United Methodist Men, we are once again asking our fellowships to take part in a Bowl-A-Thon. This year, there will be three cash prizes for the top 3 fellowships that produce the most cash.
How it works, it's simple: 1. Get 6 men to volunteer to go bowl at a certain time. 2. Obtain pledges from members of your Church, friends, neighbors. The pledges will be a certain amount for each pin the man knocks down. For instance, if a man pledges 10 cents and the bowler knocks down 100 pins, the person making the pledge would owe $10.00. 3. After all the pledges are obtained all 6 men will go bowl three games. Keep up with pins each knocks down. Go collect your pledges. 4. Deduct 25% of the funds you have collected. This money is yours to use as you wish. 5. Send a check for the balance of the Bowl-A-Thon to: United Methodist Men Foundation
6. All funds must be ear marked no later than May 31, 2008.P. O. Box 340006 Nashville, TN 37203-0006 7. Cash Prizes will be awarded to the three fellowships sending in the most funds. 8. Winners will be announced on the GCUMM website on June 15, 2008. Good Bowling! Any questions, call Robert Powell 334- 718-2193.
