DOVE CLUB MEALS
The Dove Club (Kids' Club) meets at Fourth Street UMC in south east Aurora.
Fourth Street UMC
551 South Fourth Street
(630) 897-5257The church is located at the corner of Fourth Street and Marion Avenue.
Parking is available in the parking lot on the north side of the church. You can also park on the east side of Fourth Street (opposite side from church). No parking is allowed on Fourth Street on the same side as the church.
Please enter by the glass doors on Fourth Street. You may drive up to the doors to unload a vehicle.
Kids' Club meets on Wednesdays during the school year from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The meal is usually served in two shifts, at 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. We are currently serving about 65-70 kids and volunteers each week, but the numbers are expected to increase.
The church has a large well-equipped kitchen, which is certified by the Kane County Health Department. Volunteers may prepare food in the church kitchen or at home. We will preheat the church ovens if you plan to bring hot food from home.
Many groups bring three to five volunteers to serve a meal. More are welcome. We will be in the kitchen with you to assist. You are welcome to visit the classes and activities after the meal.
We provide all plates, cups, utensils and napkins.
Sample menu: Lasagna, garlic bread, salad, fruit, cookies, juice, milk. We ask for a variety of foods at each meal so that even picky kids will eat.
Menu suggestions: (we also like surprises!)
Main course: hot dogs, chili, sloppy Joes, chicken nuggets, spaghetti, ham, pizza (ordered out), soup and sandwiches, lasagna, macaroni cheese
Starch: potatoes (mashed, oven fries, tater tots), bread (rolls, sliced, garlic bread, crackers)
Vegetables: salad, relish tray, baby carrots, corn, baked beans, peas
Fruit: any fresh or canned fruit (apples go down well with caramel!)
Dessert: cookies, cake, ice cream (bars or bulk), pudding
Drinks: 2% milk + apple or orange juice (preferred) or punch
Please do not include any food which contains peanuts or other nuts, including cookies, peanut butter or peanut oil, as we have a child with severe peanut allergies.
Quantities:
Use the number of servings listed on the packaging as a guide. Check the serving size to be sure that it is reasonable. In most cases we can get more servings than listed; exceptions - pizza and chicken nuggets.
Pizza - 15 large pizzas, ask for them to be cut into eight slices rather than six, we suggest 7 cheese, 4 sausage, 4 pepperoni.
Drinks - 5 gallons juice/punch + 1 gallon 2% milk. (We also serve water)
We will contact you the week prior to your serving a meal to confirm numbers. We will also determine what time you will need to arrive so that we will be there to open the church door.
If you have any questions please contact Donna Mora at (630) 896-9522, or by email at office@aurorashalom.org.
