OUR
VISION
To
bring the life of the Holy Spirit into the life of the local church.
A
BRIEF HISTORY OF ALDERSGATE RENEWAL FELLOWSHIP
February
6th, 1992 at the World MAP Spiritual Leadership Renewal Conference in Baquio
City, 47 United Methodist Christians met to discuss their desire to revitalize
church life in the UMC denomination. After experiencing the joy and fellowship
they shared with other “full gospel” Christians, this small group agreed
to launch the Charismatic Movement within the United Methodist Church.
On
April 13 of that same year, the United Methodist Charismatic Movement was
launched at the Central United Methodist Church in Ermita, Manila. Bishop
Emerito P. Nacpil was the keynote speaker along with Rev. Sundo Kim of
the Kwang Lim United Methodist Church of Seoul, Korea (the largest Methodist
Church in the world). This launching was attended by more that 300 United
Methodist from as far as Tarlac and Taytay, Rizal.
On
May 6, 1994, the movement was formally incorporated under the name Aldersgate
United Methodist Renewal Fellowship Inc. The name Aldersgate is reminiscent
of the name of the street where Rev. Fr. John Wesley (founder of Methodism)
was born again after having been an ordained priest in the Aglican Church
for 10 years.
Since
the launching of Aldersgate, several local churches have experienced renewal
in the areas of worship, prayer, discipleship and ministry. The conferences
are life changing God-encounter for hundreds of people. Thousands have
come to know Christ as Lord and Hundreds have been released in the ministry
of the Holy Spirit.
For
the past 2 years, we have opened the ministry to the whole Body of Christ.
We seek to share God’s blessing to our brethren regardless of denominational
affiliation. Our prayer is that this renewal will spill over and become
a full-blown revival in our cities.
OUR
STRATEGY
GATHERING…
Every
year, we hold a national spiritual renewal conference in Baquio City. This
is a 4-day, live-in event that has become a life changing experience for
thousands. We are blessed by the powerful presence of the Lord, dynamic
praise and worship, the anointed preaching ministry our local and international
speakers. We have had the privilege of hosting men like Dr. John Garlock,
Rev. Scott Kelso, and the explosive Gregg Johnson.
TEACHING…
Aside
from the depth of teaching we enjoy during the annual conferences, we provide
a number of seminars for local churches, we provide a number of seminars
for local churches. These include life in the Spirit, Worship and Renewal,
Spiritual Warfare, Ministering in Power, and Cell Group seminars. If you
would like to host any of the above seminars in your church please contact
our office.
MODELING…
The
life of the Holy Spirit is more caught than taught so we desire to model
the following values:
FAITH
...
We
expect God to do something every time we gather.
We
look for the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those to whom we minister.
SIMPLICITY
...
We
want to be naturally supernatural. We want to model a simple way of life
and ministry. We do not need to draw attention to ourselves. Rather, let
the work of the Holy Spirit bring attention to the Lord and not our style
of ministry.
WORSHIP
...
We
believe that worship is an end in itself. The activity of workshop is not
only a preliminary to teaching ministry. We want to model worship
that involves the mind, heart and body.
MINISTRY
...
We
believe that God uses ordinary people to do extra-ordinary things for the
kingdom. We want to model that ministry is for everyone.
PRAYING
…
We
believe in two types of prayer:
We
practice intercessory prayer: Our conferences have prayer teams that intercede
for the event before, during and after. We pray for an open heaven and
an increased activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the delegates
and speakers. We also practice soaking prayer. As we invite the Holy Spirit
to come and minister to people, we believe that His manifest presence comes
upon them.
Soaking
prayer allows the person being ministered to by the Holy Spirit Himself
as they wait and “soak” in His ministry.
