SEPTEMBER 2009 ACTIVITIES AT ALBRIGHT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH |
| Albright UMChurch held our l4th Annual Neighborhood Cookout and Fun Day on Saturday, September 26th from 11AM-1PM. Those attending were welcomed by Friendship Sunday School Class members in a blue topped shaded canopy and given a nametag and a bag for prizes and pamphlets. T he first 200 guests also received a coupon for a free dessert provided by McDonalds on North l4th as well as a pamphlet about Albright. We gave out l05 other door prizes donated by Ponca City and neighborhood businesses and agencies. . Jimmy Daniel brought his big cooker and with the help of Calvin Golliver and others cooked up 400 hamburgers and hot dogs. In addition a lot of our members brought and helped serve our guests chips, beans, cookies and drinks. The kids played on the inflatable, 'The Bounce" run by the Kindergarten Class and Church Nurse, and the kids and many adults also tried their skill in ten other games, run by other classes winning over 910 small prizes. . There was a large pamphlet rack of neighborhood agencies services to look over. We heard 9 speakers including our Pastor and Youth Director, YMCA program coordinator, City Councilman, Ponca Police Officer, Bridgeway Counselor, Pregnancy Center Director, Ponca Tribe Educator, and Ponca City Senior Center worker. There was live and recorded music by our Men's Quartet, Banjo Bible Songs by Alan Crockett, Canjo playing and our Children's Choir. We praise the Lord for the beautiful weather and thank all who helped and attended so that people in our neighborhood might know that God loves them and so do the members of Albright United Methodist Church . | ON SUNDAY EVENING AT 5PM ALBRIGHT FOLKS STARTED THEIR FALL FOG (FOCUS ON GOD). A light supper was served. Then Children watched a video and played a game, Youth met in their room for discussions. Adults began their studies of '"ReConnecting" with Pastor Joe Robinson or "Battlefield for the Mind" with Cheryl Taylor. |

ON SEPTEMBER 13, A LASAGNA DINNER WAS SERVED BY THE OPEN DOOR CLASS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR APPORTIONMENTS. $1677 WAS RAISED. We praise the Lord and thank all who served the dinner, ate the dinner and gave to the State, Nation and World work of the United Methodist Church. |
