AUGUST 2009 ACTIVITIES AT ALBRIGHT UMC

 

Jeanne Burge's September Bulletin Boards help us think about how God helps us.

 

UMW President, Lynnita  Miller, welcomed everyone to their Ice Cream Social  on August 30th.  They had many toppings to put on  the many flavors of  home made  and commercial  ice cream. There were also brownies and cookies to munch on.  We praise God and  thank them for a nice social..  

 

MUSICAL 5TH SUNDAY AT ALBRIGHT UMCHURCH ON  AUGUST 30, 2009.  Donna Evans Yodeled, Carolyn Stewart  sang "Grace Alone", The Men's quartet, Pete Hurd, Wm. Brigden, Don Appleman and Alan Crockett,  sang "Victory in Jesus", Freida Hill and Pat Purkey  sang a Medley, Bob Anthony sang "Joshua Fit' the Battle of Jericho" with the congregation singing the chorus and wife accompanying , Pat Purkey accompanied Jessica  and Jennifer Douglas and Trey Steele in Free To Be You and Me", Sara Palmer sang "Good Shepherd",  Paul, Jake and Katie Schultz sang "Let's Go Down to  the River to Pray - acapella,  Jason Stillwell played 'Do Lord" and Open Door Class sang several Scripture Songs accompanied by Alan Crockett on the Banjo. A duet was played by Kay Anthony and Jason Stillwell.   John Rowe sang the verses, when the congregation sang ''How Great Thou Art".
 

 

The Indoor Picnic was served by the Family Life Committee on August 23, 2009.    We had a large turnout  for fried Chicken, a variety of salads and vegetables, rolls and ice cream for dessert.  

 

Rev. Jeremy Basset, Volunteers in Mission  director for Oklahoma UMC Annual Confernce, helped us understand our world Mission for Jesus Christ on August 23, 2009.   Using  a variety of maps showing different world  perspectives, such as population, actual land side, and viewpoint  on the globe, he helped adult  Sunday School classes see what the world is really like. He also preached in the Sunday Morning Worship Service and attended our Indoor Picnic.  

 

Youth Helped with the Sunday Worship Service on August 16, 2009.  Tommie Dehn, youth work- er, shared her Christian Witness, Katie Bottger, Brook Steel, and Lara Patton read scripture lessons, Jacob Schultz lead the Dismissal and many other youth and children from the Fun Friday Groups  helped with the special music and other parts of the service. We praise the Lord for their leadership. 

 

 DICK AND TWILA POWELL CELEBRATED THEIR 60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY     in the Albright United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 2-5PM on Saturday August 15, 2009.  They cut their cake and their guests were served cake,  mints, nuts and punch.  Kay Anthony played beautiful music.  A slide show of family pictures taken throughout their married life was watched with their family and friends.  We praise the Lord for His blessings to them and their family for 60 years  and years to come. 

 

We thank all who brought these school supplies to  the cart just outside our Church office before August 12.   Lincoln Grade School students will receive them and others that we may bring.  The list is on the cart of  more than 100 items  the children will need that the school does not provide.. Albright United Methodist Church has hired a new Administrative Assistant.  Her name is Chera Brewer and she started August 2, 2009.  I feel like we have selected someone who will be very dependable and will make a fine representation of our church. Please make her feel welcome and comfortable....  Julie Brown, Staff Parish Relations Chair.  

 

 ON AUGUST 2ND, WESTERN DRESS DAY, THE JOURNEY OF HOPE CLASS HELD A SLOPPY-JOE  FUNDRAISER DINNER IN OUR FELLOWSHIP HALL 

Sloppy-Joes, beans, potato salad, relish, and chips were served in addition to your choice of  a variety of desserts . Tables were decorated with western items
