Youth & Children's Ministries Youth Ministries Youth Fellowship - meets most Wednesday evenings from September to May. Sunday School - meets every Sunday from 9:30 - 10:30 pm. in the Youth Room on the lower level of the church. Children's Ministries Nursery - Nursery is provide for children ages six weeks to three years during the 8:30 and 10:45 service, as well as during the Sunday School hour at 9:30. A paid staff member, trained in CPR, provides care for the children, along with other volunteers as needed. Children in the nursery learn about Jesus through play, crafts, songs, and stories. Nursery is also provided on Wednesday nights and as needed for other activities. Children's Sermon - Each Sunday, at both 8:30 and 10:45 services, Pastor Harold Backus invites the children to the front of the church for an age-appropriate version of the sermon. Not only are the children learning, but the adults receive a good measure of entertainment as well. Busy Bags - While in the sanctuary, children are welcome to pick up one of our "busy bags" by the door. Each bag is filled with items such as crayons, pipe cleaners, and Christian pictures and activities designed to keep little ones entertained. Music - A portion of the Sunday School hour is devoted to music, where the children learn Bible songs, or practice for an upcoming program. The children perform regularly during both services, providing ministry to the entire congregation. Sunday School - Sunday School classes are provided for children ages four to sixth grade from 9:30 to 10:30 each Sunday morning. During this time, a group of dedicated volunteers teach the children about Jesus through crafts, activities, stories, and music. Parents are welcome to drop-off their children for Sunday School hour, or stay and attend one of the adult Sunday School classes, or simply grab a cup of coffee and fellowship for a while. Vacation Bible School - During the summer, First United Methodist teams up with St. Paul's Lutheran to provide an exciting and educational week-long themed vacation bible school program for children or the community ages four to sixth grade. Activities include bible stories, crafts, games, snacks and music. On the Sunday following VBS, both congregations are treated to songs the children learned throughout the week.
