Friends,

By the time you receive this you will already know that Sue and I will be moving.  We did not expect to move this year and so the news is coming a little late.   I am being appointed to serve as the District Superintendent of the Prairie Rivers District starting July 1, 2008.  This means we will be moving the last week of June.

We have loved it here.  This is a great church made up of wonderful, caring, and committed people.  I am proud of you all.  I totally trust that God is involved in this new call.  The timing seems right, not only for me but also for the church.  I believe the recent signs of growth have been all around us with new families joining and several children being added to our Sunday School, the concerted effort to get our property into top shape, and the creating of a Discipleship Plan around the six signs of discipleship, are good opportunities for new energy and recommitments of leadership.

We still have three months together, and soon you will get information about your new pastor and family.  I hope that this can be a time of deepening our commitment to this congregation’s next chapter by “preparing the table” for the future.

On another note, we are in the spring of the year.  The signs of new life are all around us.  The geese have been flying, flowers are blooming, robins are returning, and a lawn mowing sign-up sheet has been placed in the church library.  It is time to think about gardens and the out-of-doors.  Easter was last Sunday and we were reminded that Christ is alive and among us.  God is active in our lives!  We are not left to figure things out on our own.  Trust that God is at work in our church.  It is true.  The signs are all around us.
