First UMC has an after-school ministry on Wednesdays. This is our mid-week program for ages Kindergarten – 5th grade, called ―Dynamite Disciples.
Dynamite Disciples:
Dynamite Disciples will meet EVERY Wednesday in Fellowship hall from 2:30 – 5:00. For your convenience we have hired SWITA to make a stop at both elementary schools to pick kids up and bring them to the church. If you were not able to fill out a registration form, you may stop at the church during business hours and fill out a registration form or call 243-4185 for more information.
Each time we gather, we will provide faith-based activities that allow our kids to explore God's activity in the world through field-trips, lessons, music, and seasonal activities. I am looking forward to a fun and rewarding time with the children as they grow in their faith as "Dynamite Disciples".
Dynamite Disciples have finished their study on the 10 commandments and we are now learning about the Advent season. We will be talking about ways we prepare for Baby Jesus, how Mary and Joseph prepared for baby Jesus and how the shepherds and wisemen cele-brated the coming of our savior. We also would like to welcome you to visit the festival of trees this year. This event is open November 29th to December 2nd at the Catholic Parish Center. We made handprint mangers inspired by the poem: We used our hands to make a manger, a place for Jesus to lay. We’ll use our hearts so full of love, as a place for Jesus to stay.
Sunday School:
Sunday School is working hard getting ready for our Christmas Program. We will be practicing Sunday morning and then having a lesson about advent and Christmas. We hope that you are all able to come Sunday December 16th at 2pm for our Christmas Program. This year's celebration is the story of Jesus' birth and includes Christmas carols, preschool bells, and high school boomwackers.
