The Methodist church has its roots in a movement that sprang up in the 18th century. It was lead by John Wesley, an Anglican Priest.

Soon Methodist Preaching Rooms and Chapels sprang up throughout Great Britain. It found particular support amongst ordinary working class people. The appeal quickly broadened and today it reaches across the world and to people of all backgrounds.

John Wesley placed particular emphasis on the forgiveness of God and our response to God's generosity. He taught that the Christian has a responsibility to live as holy a life as possible.

The Methodist Church has always emphasised a strong welcome to all and the importance of family life.

Methodism also has a great tradition of music. John's brother Charles Wesley writing many hymns still sung today in all denominations.

About the United Methodist Church

On April 23, 1968, The United Methodist Church was created when Bishop Reuben H. Mueller, representing The Evangelical United Brethren Church, and Bishop Lloyd C. Wicke of The Methodist Church joined hands at the constituting General Conference in Dallas, Texas. With the words, "Lord of the Church, we are united in Thee, in Thy Church and now in The United Methodist Church," the new denomination was given birth by two churches that had distinguished histories and influential ministries in various parts of the world

Our Mission

what we do...

We present Jesus Christ to others by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order that they may accept him, become like him, and trust in the Father through Him, all while sharing and serving Him as their Lord and Savior in the fellowship of His church.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.                                                                                             James 1:22
