Worship & Music
Worship is
very important in the life of Asbury United Methodist Church! Our worship service is neither “traditional”
nor “contemporary”, but rather “blended”.
This allows our church family to enjoy all kinds of worship music,
whether it be a great hymn of the faith, a gospel choir anthem, or the latest
praise song.
Do you like
to be involved in music? Asbury has 3
different ensembles:
CHOIR
Our choir sings 2 and 3 part choir
anthems of all styles in the worship service.
Additionally, we may prepare extra music for special seasons such as
Advent or Lent, or for special community services at
Thanksgiving. The choir rehearses from
7:35-8:30 p.m. Wednesday nights in the choir room, which is located on the
lower level of the church.
ASBURY
RINGERS
Asbury is very fortunate to have a 3
octave set of Schulmerich handbells and Malmark chimes. This
ensemble practices on Wednesdays from 6:45-7:30 p.m. in the bell room which is
located on the lower level of the church.
The ringers present music approximately every 6 weeks in the worship
service and play from the balcony of the church. Additionally, the group is looking at taking
part in a massed ring festival in the future.
PRAISE TEAM
This group
rehearses Wednesday nights from 8:30-9:00 in the choir room (during the colder
months of the season) or the sanctuary during the more temperate months of the
year. We also rehearse the first Monday
of the month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. These
singers prepare a variety of praise music for the service.
SOLO OPPORTUNITIES
Do you play
an instrument? Like to
sing solos? There’s a place for
you in the worship service as well.
