A Message from the Pastor

A teacher asked her class, “What is the shape of the world?”  One little student replied, “My daddy says it is in the worst shape it has ever been in.”  When the history of our times has been recorded, historians may or may not record our times as the worst.  But no matter how history may record them, “These are times which try our soul.”

Years ago, the distinguished preacher, Dr. Lynn Harold Hough, said, “Christianity is at its best when the world is at its worst.  It is at its best intellectually when the world is the most confused in its thinking.

It is at its best morally when the world has lost a sense of standards.  It is at its best socially when men are at each other’s throats.  It is at its best spiritually when the world has lost a sense of the presence of God.  This crisis finds the Christian religion with a word of mastery and, if that word is heard and heeded, the crisis becomes a crisis no longer.”  Christianity is at is best when the world, or your world is at its worst, because it has a word of hope, a word of redemption, a word of love, and a word of peace.

For these and many more reasons, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord’!” (Psalm 122)

See you Sunday.
