THE UNITED METHODIST
APPALACHIAN MINISTRY NETWORK

The network is designated by the United Methodist Church to work with local, district, conference, and general church leadership to develop coordinated ministries which seek justice for all God's people in Appalachia.

UMAMN membership is comprised of representatives from the College of Bishops from the North Central, Northeastern and Southeastern Jurisdictions, representatives of bishop's whose episcopal area is within the Region, representatives of: conference United Methodist Women; United Methodist Men; regional mission personnel; grassroots church-based projects; General Agencies--Board of Global Ministries, Church and Society, Discipleship, Higher Education and Ministry; and members-at-large.

GOALS:

I. Strengthen ministry and relationships within the Appalachian United Methodist family.

II. Strengthen the ability of regional church bodies to be engaged in ministry.

III. Strengthen cultural understanding and address issues which impact the ability of both lay and clergy to minister in the region.

IV. Strengthen the capacity for church-based community development.
