Algiers United Methodist Church

At Algiers United Methodist Church our main purpose is "Getting to the Point of Sharing God’s Love in Historic Algiers Point". We do this in a variety of ways. From vibrant worship services, to active Christian education programs, to local outreach ministries, to world mission projects, we are sharing God’s love in Jesus Christ.

About the Methodist Faith

About methodist beliefs

We are believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. Jesus is the perfect teacher, moral example, compassionate preacher and lovable wonderworker; through Him alone, we have access to God the Father.

About Algiers Methodist Church

About methodist beliefs

Our church was organized in 1844 and is one of the oldest Christian congregations west of the Mississippi. First pastored by a retired sea captain, it was originally called the Good Hope Chapel.

About methodist beliefs

Our present sanctuary was dedicated in 1922; our 2 previous sanctuaries were abandoned (one when the Mississippi River changed its course, the other when a hurricane destroyed it).
