Worship at Aldersgate

At Aldersgate, we endeavor to worship in a way that is faithful to scripture, and vital and attractive to those who attend. We depend upon the presence of the Holy Spirit to inspire and inform us as we gather in Christ's name. We come together to praise God, to confess our sins and receive forgiveness, to be challenged by scripture and preaching and to be sent out into a hurting world as Jesus' apostles in our day.

Sunday Morning Services

On most Sunday mornings we worship God at 9:00am and 10:30am. Although identical in many ways, each of these services has its own unique character. Services for each week are based on scripture readings which may be found by clicking here .

9:00am

Our 9:00 service is the smaller of the two in attendance. It is less formal in the sense that Pastor Wehrle leads it from "in the congregation" and preaches from the center aisle rather than from the pulpit. Although we follow the same order of worship for both the 9:00am and 10:30am services, at 9:00 there are no choir anthems or responses. Faith Factor , our praise band, usually presents the music for worship at the 9:00 a.m. Service. Those inclined toward a worship service that is more intimate and relaxed may wish to join us at 9:00.

10:30am

The service of worship that begins at 10:30 is what some would call a traditional United Methodist service. Usually, Pastor Wehrle preaches from the pulpit and the congregation is much larger. This is the service which includes a full music program of prayer and praise, where our choirs sing anthems and responses. The same order of worship is used at this service as in the first service.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month as well as on other occasions. Baptisms are scheduled with the pastor and occur when requested.

OUR PROGRAM OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION is held on Sunday at 9:00 and 10:30am throughout the school year. There are classes for children, youth and adults during the 9:00am service. At the 10:30 service immediately following Pastor Wehrle's Children's Message, there is an extended session of Sunday School through fourth grade.

CHILD CARE is provided for all infants and toddlers during both worship services. One of our ushers will be glad to guide you to the CHILD CARE area.

FELLOWSHIP TIME - After worship, all are invited to join in the reception area for some refreshments and a time to continue the joy of being together in Christ.

Special Worship Opportunities

In addition to Sunday morning worship, we have several special services throughout the year. During Lent we have Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday services as well as mid-week services. At Thanksgiving we participate in an interfaith service in our community and have our own Christian service of worship on Thanksgiving morning. Other special occasions are also observed.

Whichever worship opportunities you choose, the congregation and staff of Aldersgate want to make YOU welcome here.
