Choirs and Music Programs

Here at Aldersgate, one of the ways we praise God is through a broad spectrum of choirs and other music programs. You don't need to sing like a member of the Metropolitan Opera to participate - all you need is an average voice and a desire to join with us in using it in praise of The Lord. In addition to the vocal groups, there are a number of groups featuring instrumental or mixed vocal/instrumental music. Click on the following to see some of the particulars:

Joyful Light Singers

JoyfulLightSingers The Joyful Light Singers are Aldersgate's principal senior choir. Joyful Light sings at the 10:30am Service on most Sundays, and also presents concerts of special music at various times during the year. On a typical Sunday, between 14 and 18 choir members sing to the Lord, but we can accomodate far more! If you are between the ages of 12 and 100, you are welcome to join us. Joyful Light are directed by our Organist and Choir Director, Jan Niemann.

Joyful Light rehearses every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:00pm.

Good News Ringers

Handbells

The Good News Ringers are Aldersgate's distinguished Bell Choir. Good News plays for one service each month, from September through June. In addition, some of the bells ring descants for the hymns at Sunday morning worship services. A set of hand chimes has recently been donated to the Good News Ringers through the generosity of the Faith Factor Praise Band. These hand chimes will be used both by themselves, and to supplement the standard handbells. Remember, you don't need to be an accomplished musician to join us and participate. The Good News Ringers are led by Bell Choir Director, Lee Ann Peterson.

Good News rehearses every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 7:55pm.

Faith Factor

Faith Factor is a mixed instrumental/vocal group which plays contemporary Christian music. FaithFactor Faith Factor plays at several of the Sunday morning services during the year, and holds a number of Saturday or Friday evening coffeehouses. In addition, Faith Factor carries some of its music into the community - for example, Faith Factor has played in a boardwalk program at Ocean Grove, and at the Middlesex County Fair.

Faith Factor have their own website, which you can visit by clicking on the logo at the right.

Faith Factor rehearses at 7:00 p.m. on most Fridays.

Women's and Men's Choruses

Certain music requires special voices - the lilt of female voices, or the deeper sonorous tones of male voices. This special music is performed at the 10:30am service on an occasional Sunday during the year, and particularly during the summer months. For these occasional times, we form a Women's or Men's Chorus including members of the Joyful Light Singers and members of the congregation who wish to sing but cannot participate in the Choir every Sunday.

Rehearsal for either Chorus is held in the week prior to the performance.
