Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am always with you, to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20 (NRSV) |
MissionThe mission of Aldersgate United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. To provide opportunities for personal discipleship and welcome those from the community who are seeking to know God. Aldersgate encourages everyone to grow in four main areas of discipleship known as the four G's; Gather, Grow, Give and Greet. |
Jerusalem CrossThe Jerusalem cross is an ancient Christian symbol that shows Jesus as both the messenger and the message. The four small crosses are symbolic of the four Gospels proclaimed to the four-corners of the earth, beginning in Jerusalem. The large cross symbolizes the person of Christ. |
GatherWe Gather in Christian community for worship and fellowship. Our worship services offer opportunity to worship in both a traditional and casual setting. Fellowship activities foster a sense of belonging and create bonds to help us be the body of Christ. |
GreetWe Greet the world with the love of Christ through mission and invitation. Aldersgate welcomes newcomers, and is actively seeking to become an inviting presence in our community. Our mission activities focus on meeting the needs of individuals. |
GrowWe Grow in love and understanding through group study and individual disciplines such as prayer and devotion. Aldersgate offers Sunday School for ages 3 to adult, and various small group studies throughout the year. |
GiveWe Give of our time, talents, and resources in service to the church and to the community. Aldersgate has many ministries which utilizes a variety of skills and passions. Each of us has gifts to offer in service to God, and Aldergate's goal is to match gifts and ministries for all. |
